Retail bags, merchant crates and bulk supply can carry different legal, labelling and documentation requirements. Before ordering, confirm where and how the product will be sold and obtain independent compliance advice where necessary. The practical starting point is the product mix: species, log length, crate or net-bag format, pallet configuration and expected volume. Transport options and load quantity can then be calculated for the destination and unloading arrangements.
The importer should confirm the current commodity classification, plant-health controls, customs declaration and tax treatment with its broker before shipment. Tervete Wood prepares the supplier-side documents agreed for the order, while the UK buyer remains responsible for its import obligations.
A useful comparison includes product volume, moisture requirement, packaging, documentation, freight basis and unloading cost. Requesting a current quotation is more reliable than using a generic landed-cost estimate because freight and specifications change.
Birch and oak sell as premium; ash and alder work as mid-tier or blend. Crates (1m³, 2m³) suit log yards and pallet delivery; 22L and 40L netted bags suit forecourts, garden centres and DIY multi-buys; kindling and 10kg briquette packs round out the range.
